Core elements of modules include: 

Substance Use Disorder (SUD)  

Description: Approximately 40 questions on the general principles of substance use disorder with a focus on the use of alcohol, cannabis, stimulant, and nicotine use. 

CME Credits: 4 (Which can count toward your DEA requirements)

Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) 

Description: Approximately 20 questions on pain management in the ED, opioid use disorder, management of opioid overdose and withdrawal, and medications used to treat opioid use disorder.

Resuscitation 

Description: Approximately 20 questions designed to help improve knowledge and skills in resuscitation as well as to potentially meet local medical staff requirements to be proficient in the care of critically ill or injured patients.

* Who can access these modules

ABEM-certified physicians who are keeping up with their annual fee and other continuing certification requirements can get these modules at no additional cost. 

In addition to ABEM-certified physicians, the SUD and OUD modules are available (with a fee) to: 

  • Residents 
  • Physicians who are in the initial certification process 
  • Those who are subspecialty certified by ABEM with a primary certification from another ABMS Board
