What is the Visiting Scholars Program?
The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Visiting Scholars Program supports the research of early-career physicians and facilitates leadership development through engagement with the ABMS and the broader medical community. ABMS Visiting Scholars’ research contributes to the medical literature that supports the development and ongoing assessment of specialists who positively impact the quality, safety, and value of patient care.
The ABMS Visiting Scholars Program is ideal for individuals looking to positively impact their profession as well as specialty certification through research.
Applications are being accepted for early-career Emergency Medicine physicians who preferentially have an interest in one or more of the following areas:
- Experience as a military physician
- Physician wellness research such as burnout, fitness, and mindfulness
- Residency education and research
- Innovations in continuing certification assessment and education
- Medical toxicology
An award of $15,000 is provided to support the direct costs of research and travel expenses associated with program participation.
