Getting ready to retire (or are already retired)? You can now self-report your retirement status.
Whether you’re thinking about retiring or not, ABEM wants to ensure physicians who have dedicated themselves to ensuring the highest standard in the specialty of Emergency Medicine are accurately identified in our data and reporting.
ABEM has a new status for physicians who self-report to us that they have retired. The only option prior was to report retired physicians as “Former Diplomates.” We felt this status did not highlight the many achievements of those who retired in good standing from Emergency Medicine and was not reflective of the recognition deserved.
The new status for physicians who self-report to ABEM that they are retiring will be “Former Diplomate – Retired.” This information is reported to the American Board of Medical Specialties and demonstrates the physician retired in good standing.
We hope this change will better represent ABEM-certified physicians who transition to retirement.
