
Emergency Medicine residents are the future of our specialty! The American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) developed the Resident Ambassador Panel (RAP) to bring forward resident perspectives and engage with residents on ABEM activities. The Panel is comprised of three Emergency Medicine residents serving two-year terms.
We have an upcoming vacancy on the Panel beginning in August 2025. Interested residents will need to apply through their Emergency Medicine membership organization (AAEM/RSA, ACOEP, CORD, EMRA, or RAMS). Reach out to your organization to get additional information, applications, and deadlines.
Applications are due to ABEM from the Emergency Medicine organizations on May 9.
Criteria:
- Emergency Medicine resident, PGY2 and above at the start of their term (August 2025 – July 2027
- Entire term must be completed during residency (i.e., cannot extend term into a fellowship year)
- Desired attributes include:
- Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism
- Timeliness, ability to follow direction
- Team skills, ability to compromise
- Ability to accept constructive criticism
- Agreeable to ABEM’s conflict of interest, confidentiality, and volunteer policies
It is preferred that nominees not currently hold an executive leadership position within their organization in an effort to expand the leadership opportunities for residents.
Panel members will collaborate and provide input on certain ABEM activities, such as applying for certification, communicating with residents, advising on the content of the Residency Visitation Program, and providing feedback on the ABEM website.
