ABEM Supports ABMS Statement on Medical Boards Autonomy

The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) has issued a statement of support for the autonomy of state medical boards on licensing actions. “State legislation aimed at limiting these boards’ ability to act is dangerous and undermines the inherent trust in medicine, science and the profession held by the communities we serve.”

ABEM supports the statement as well as the Federation of State Medical Boards statement opposing legislative efforts to limit the ability of state medical boards’ authority to investigate patient harm.
